Maitland City Council turned to Arinco for its tried-and-tested technical capability, and its people-focused collaboration style, to support a digital transformation plan that will meet the growing needs of the community and enhance customer experience.
Scenario
Maitland is home to more than 90,000 residents, including more than 20,000 families, and is a key strategic centre within the Hunter Region, producing over $10 billion in goods and services each year and providing 10% of the region’s jobs.
Maitland City Council (MCC) represents residents and businesses in the thriving community, who informed the development of the council’s Customer Experience Plan – a path to meet the growing needs of the community and present opportunities for productivity improvements and efficiency gains through digital reinvention.
MCC selected Arinco as a technology enablement partner for this plan because of our tried-and-tested technical capability and structured approach, along with the ability to help build internal capacity through collaboration.
Solution
Arinco helped MCC to modernise their digital systems and implement important digital initiatives over the long term by first establishing the fundamental elements of MCC’s digital solutions.
Arinco supported MCC in laying the foundations of MCC’s digital environment through the Azure Done Right solution – providing secure, governed, scalable enterprise-grade Azure Landing Zones capable of hosting all MCC’s future clouds workloads.
The next step in the digital reinvention process is to integrate MCC’s cloud capabilities with its on-premise infrastructure, ultimately providing end-to-end site disaster recovery capability across all MCC applications.
Outcome
Arinco involved MCC in each step of the process – from workshops to design and build. Knowledge transfer sessions were also conducted with MCC to ensure they were upskilling in Azure, and Infrastructure as Code.
While MCC’s improvement initiatives will be rolled out during 2023, Arinco has observed that other councils and government agencies face similar challenges in meeting customer expectations for fast, accessible and up-to-date information via digital platforms.
Arinco’s Azure Done Right™ (ADR) solution can provide support by:
- Unblocking digital teams, which have been constrained by slow on-premises servers.
- Providing the ability to govern and monitor cloud workloads, particularly with cost management, security baselines, and operational alerting.
- Educating customers about how the cloud works to deploy services with code and automated pipelines for consistent and fast delivery.
On-going innovation at Maitland City Council
MCC engaged Arinco CoOps Managed Services to provide a Cloud Center of Excellence, and support them to upskill, maintain, optimise and enhance their cloud technologies.
CoOps has supported MCC post the completion of their Azure Done Right™ project to maintain their platform and enhance their teams’ skills in managing cloud technologies. Ongoing is the Cost Optimisation review, which is aimed to optimise their environment for cost savings and future innovations.
